Five Inexpensive Ways to Update Your Look

When you feel like making a change in your style, the first roadblock you imagine is the cost.  There are fashion updates that can make you feel fresh and uplifted without draining your funds.

Here is a list of five inexpensive ways to update your look that can do the trick. I’ve made a point of including items that will cost $100 at the most.

FIVE INEXPENSIVE WAYS TO UPDATE YOUR LOOK

PICK A NEW NAIL COLOR

Leaf through you favorite magazine and pay attention to nails.  You also can check out your local salon, Ulta, or Sephora and see what colors are new for the season.  Which colors inspire you?  Do you like bright and bold colors or neutral and understated tones?  Keep in mind your profession and what is appropriate.

BUY A SHOE WITH CHARACTER

If your style is classic from head to toe, update your style purchasing a shoe with some attitude.  It could be a flat or a heel in a fun print like polka dots, animal print, floral, or an unusually bright color. These are all great options to implement for your casual or weekend wear. Or, if you lean towards a more casual wardrobe, try pairing your casual look with a great classic patent heel.

TRY NEW SHADES

A pair of trendy, funky, artsy sunglasses can be just what you need for a quick new look.  Be on the look out for possibilities at department stores or boutiques.  A wide variety of styles are always available.

CUT YOUR HAIR AT A NEW SALON

Is it time to check out a new salon?  Consider a salon/barber that has a different vibe than your previous one.  If you are too leery at first, set up a style consultation before the actual appointment.  And, if you love your hair stylist/barber, try a new style with them. A fresh look can be very rewarding.

GO HUNTING FOR FUN COSTUME JEWELRY

You can buy new, costume jewelry at low price point stores such as H&M, Kohls, Saks on 5th, J.Crew Mercantile, and Zara. I also love Ann Taylor, Loft, and Banana Republic.  My favorite local spots for jewelry are Lizzibeth, MOdE, and for one-of-a-kind repurposed vintage jewelry, Lulu’s Petals.

I’ve put together a catalog that you can easily shop some inexpensive ways to update your look.  All you have to do is click on the specific item and it will take you to the online retailer. The items in the catalog range from $10 – $100. Happy Shopping! The hunt is as much fun as wearing your new finds!
