Pantone announced the Color of the Year for 2019 – Living Coral. This pinky-orange coral has a golden undertone, that gives it beautiful warmth and depth. Living Coral is a fun color to add for spring and summer and can easily be worn in winter/fall. If you love this color, I have a few tips on how to wear Living Coral and incorporate it into your wardrobe.
“Color is an equalizing lens through which we experience our natural and digital realities and this is particularly true for Living Coral. With consumers craving human interaction and social connection, the humanizing and heartening qualities displayed by the convivial PANTONE Living Coral hit a responsive chord. ” ~ Leatrice Eiseman (Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute)
Here are a few tips on how to wear Living Coral:
How to Wear Pantone’s Color of the Year, Living Coral
(L to R: Gigi New York handbag, Anthropologie/Chelsea Tee, ShopStyle/Fuzzi Dress, Gigi New York Crossbody, Nordstrom/BP. Coat, THREDUP/Banana Republic Scarf, Nordstrom/Tom Form Lip Color, Anthropologie/Anton Heunis Necklace, Anthropologie Booties, Zoya Nail Polish, Kendra Scott Earrings, Anthropologie/Jeffrey Campbell Heels)
PAIR IT WITH NEUTRALS
Living Coral looks amazing when you pair it with neutrals – white, ivory, beige, brown, gray, gold, navy, and black. You can tone down your overall look, depending on where you decide to wear the color by adding neutrals. Or, make living coral the center of attention.
MONOCHROMATIC
Living Coral or a version of coral can be a little hard to find in stores right now. This will change as more spring/summer items start making their way into boutiques and department stores. As you can see from my collage image above, I found shades of coral. With that being said, you can do a monochromatic look and vary the shades of coral you are wearing.
MIX IT WITH OCEAN INSPIRED COLORS & BRIGHTS
Living Coral makes me think of the beach and a tropical vacation. Doesn’t that sound nice?! If you want more of a tropical feel pair it with cobalt blue, turquoise or seafoam. Looking to pair it with a quieter color, living coral looks great with peach and petal pink. And, if you are a fan of bright colors, it looks fabulous with lemon yellow.
PATTERNS
If living coral is not your friend – meaning it doesn’t look great near your face, wear it in a pattern. As long as the other colors look great near your face, it’s an easy way to incorporate it into your look. You also have the option to wear it on your lower half or with an accessory. Or, go all out and wear a patterned dress that incorporates coral if you can rock this color!
ACCESSORIES
If you are looking to add a splash of living coral into your wardrobe, accessories are your friend. It’s an inexpensive way to incorporate and try a new color without making a big investment. Shoes, jewelry, sunglasses, scarves, and handbags are all great ways to add a small amount of living coral into your wardrobe. You can’t go wrong with one of Gigi New York’s handbags from their Resort collection in this beautiful shade to compliment your outfit!
BEAUTY
A plethora of coral colored beauty products can be found at your favorite beauty store. You’ll find eye shadow, blush, lipstick, and nail polish with this lovely color. There are plenty of options depending on your coloring and if this is a shade that works well with your skin tone. If you’re coloring is more on the cool side, look for shades that have more pink in them. And, if you’re coloring is warm, a true coral or one brighter might look best. If you can’t find a color that suits you, nail polish might be the way to try this color. Zoya is an amazing nail polish brand with beautiful colors. They have quite a few options when I searched for coral.
Hopefully, this has inspired you on how to wear living coral this year!
