If you are heading to happy hour, a dinner party, a date, or an event after work you need an easy way to transform your office look. When there isn’t time to head home for an outfit change, there are plenty of ways to update your outfit by adding or switching only one item.
Here are five ways to Transition Your Outfit From Day to Night:
LAY THE FOUNDATION
Select pieces that are versatile and appropriate for both settings. Dresses can easily be taken from day to night, regardless of the season. Ditch your blazer when the temps are warmer, or switch it out with a different top layer if it’s cool outside.
ADD A PIECE OF STATEMENT JEWELRY
Change your accessories and add dangling earrings or a statement necklace. If your office is a bit more conservative, pull out your sparkly or bold jewelry for your night look.
SWAP YOUR SHOES
Regardless of what shoes you wear to work, it’s always nice to give your feet a break and switch them out at night. If you wear flats, kitten heels or closed toe heels to work, change it up with a pair of fun open toe heels, wedge sandals, or a bold colored/patterned shoe/sandal.
OPT FOR A CLUTCH
If you carry a larger purse or tote, swap it out for a chic clutch. If your clutch fits in your purse, you can already have it ready to go. I have a neutral clutch pictured because I’m letting my shoes and jewelry be the stars, but a clutch in a candy-colored hue is a great option when your outfit is neutral.
BRIGHTEN YOUR MAKE-UP
The easiest way to brighten your makeup is to add a bold lip. My favorites are red or bright pink, but if this is too bold for you opt for a shade a step up from your usual color. And, if time permits, add some color to your eye area.
To take your outfit from day to night, all you need are a few of these must-have pieces in your bag (at your desk) to brighten or lighten your look. How do you transition your outfit for a night out after work?
